The AICESIS General Secretary wishes to thank each of its members for their efforts and their strong involvement in AICESIS activities during year 2017. 2018 already promises to be full of events and initiatives, with the Board and the Workshop on 8-9 March in Abidjan (Ivory Coast). There is no doubt that under the Romanian Presidency, 2018 will be as successful as previous years.

Since 11 December 2017 the new general assembly of the ECOSOC elected the Council's board, which elected Mr. Charles Arbid as President of the Lebanese ECOSOC (  / ). Dr. Mohammed Saifeddine was nominated the new Secretary- General of the ECOSOC (m.saifeddine@ces.gov.lb).

The ESC adopted at its Plenary Session an opinion on "Potential social, economic, environmental and consumer effects of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the European Union" on 20 November 2017.

The Bureau will meet in Abidjan (Ivory Coast) on 7 March 2018.
