ESC IS PREPARING AN OPINION ON THE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN BULGARIA

By decision of the President's Board of the Economic and Social Council (ESC), an opinion is being developed on the topic “Digital Transformation in Bulgaria - Challenges and Opportunities in the Context of the Digital Future of Europe. The rapporteurs on the opinion are Plamen Dimitrov and Radosvet Radev, who represent the groups of trade unions and employers. The two co-rapporteurs submitted for discussion the draft opinion prepared at a joint meeting of the three commissions in ESC: the Labour, Income, Living Standards and Industrial Relations Commission; the Social Policy Commission and the Economic Policy Commission.

All participants in the meeting agreed on the importance and relevance of the project, emphasizing the need to accelerate the digital transformation in Bulgaria to ensure Bulgaria's competitiveness and to overcome the current lag in the process of technological transition. In the draft opinion ESC proposes to the attention of the Bulgarian institutions a number of measures and steps, both in the field of strategic planning and in the practical implementation and application of new technologies in various spheres of public activity. The members of the commissions made proposals related to the optimization and editing of some texts in the project.

The three commissions approved the draft with the comments made. At the next plenary session, ESC will adopt the opinion on the digital transformation in Bulgaria in the context of the digital future of Europe.
