Russia and China: Hand in hand on the path to a digital future


Representatives of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation and the Economic and Social Council of the People's Republic of China discussed cooperation in the field of digitalization.



On April 1, a joint webinar was organized by the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation and the Economic and Social Council (ESS) of the PRC on the theme "Economic development in the post-COVID era: the economy of data and the digital revolution as a new engine of growth in the context of the constitution of national markets for IT services.


Secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, Lidia Mikheeva, noted that today's meeting is one of the examples of friendship and cooperation between the Russian and Chinese peoples and an effective platform for expert dialogue and strengthening mutual understanding, partnership and strategic interaction between Russia and China.


“Today, as the world goes through a series of sweeping changes, our peoples, civil society institutions, non-profit organizations continue to support each other and work closely together on a wide range of issues. We highly appreciate that the relationship between the RF OP and the PRC ESS has developed dynamically in recent years, being an example of effective and mutually beneficial partnership cooperation,” she said.

Lidia Mikheeva noted that despite the fact that digital technologies are expanding the possibilities of rapprochement, at this stage the world is not fully aware of the many risks associated with the introduction of new digital technologies into everyday life.


“Digital technologies, however, create new types of benefits and generate new risks. We have tried to include these issues in the program of our chairmanship within the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (IAESSI). We count on your support to discuss these issues within the Association,” she said.

Summarizing the event, Guo Jun noted that bilateral cooperation between Russia and China in the digital economy is exclusively mutually beneficial and has great prospects.
