WEBINAR ON THE ROLE OF ESC-SIs IN THE POST-COVID RECOVERY IN ASIA
On March 30, the third of the regional webinars on the socio-economic effects of the pandemic and the role of social dialogue councils and institutions in stimulus measures took place.
After Latin America and the Caribbean and Africa, this webinar focused on Asia and included the participation of the Councils of China, Russia and Korea, as well as the ILO.
The interventions showed significant coincidences with previous meetings concerning the impact of the pandemic on employment and the compensatory role of social protection systems, in particular due to the existence of large groups of the population particularly affected by these crises, with negative consequences on the growth of inequalities.
Thus, it was underlined the important action which fell, on the one hand, to international cooperation, and, on the other hand, to the institutions of social dialogue, which should adapt their procedures of action to these new circumstances.
