ECOSOC

The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) assists the General Assembly of this organization in promoting economic, social and international cooperation and development. It is made up of 54 member states and aims to review economic and social issues, develop recommendations and propose policies to address these issues (www.un.org.ecosoc).

Currently, its activities are focused on promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (www.sustainabledevelopment.un.org) and on Accelerating Actions aimed at accelerating their implementation.

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) promotes international cooperation for sustainable development, providing assistance to the decision-making bodies of this organization (www.un.org.desa).

The objectives and actions of ECOSOC and DESA have a wide margin of coincidence with those of AICESIS, and for this reason the contacts between the two institutions are intensifying, in order to develop cooperation.

On September 6, 2020, a webinar on the socio-economic effects of Covid 19 from an SDG perspective took place, with the participation of senior representatives of DESA
